Straight drying tube is a glass instrument used in chemical experiments to dry gas or remove impurities from gas. The main body is a straight glass tube, usually made of high borosilicate glass, with good chemical and thermal stability. One end is with standard ground, with a variety of sizes, such as 14#, 19#, 24#, etc., which can be tightly connected with other standard ground instruments to ensure the sealing of the device. The tube is usually filled with desiccant, such as anhydrous calcium chloride, silica gel, soda lime, etc., which is used to absorb moisture or other impurities in the gas. When the gas containing moisture or impurities passes through the drying tube, the moisture or impurities in the gas are adsorbed or absorbed by the desiccant in the tube, thereby obtaining dry and pure gas.

Product applications

(1) Gas drying: used to remove moisture from gases such as hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen after various gas preparation experiments to obtain pure dry gas.

(2) Gas impurity removal: such as using a drying tube filled with soda lime to remove hydrogen chloride impurities in carbon dioxide.

(3) Anti-water absorption in the device: installed at the inlet and outlet of the device to prevent external water vapor from entering the water-sensitive chemical reaction device to avoid reaction failure or product deterioration.

(4) Special gas generation: under certain circumstances, the solid in the tube is used to react with the introduced gas to produce gas, such as the reaction of carbon dioxide and sodium peroxide to produce oxygen.
