The lower end of the alkaline burette is connected to a rubber tube, and there is a glass bead in the rubber tube. By squeezing the rubber tube, the glass beads move to control the outflow of the titrant. This structure cleverly avoids direct contact between the alkaline solution and the glass piston, because the alkaline solution easily interacts with the frosted port of the glass piston, causes the piston to be unable to twist. The combination of rubber tube and glass beads can not only effectively control the outflow of the solution, but also it can prevent this reaction from happening and ensure the normal use of the burette.
The tip part of the alkaline burette is used to accurately control the outflow speed and flow rate of the liquid, makes the titration operation more precise. During the titration process, the speed of liquid flowing out from the tip can be adjusted by controlling the strength of squeezing the rubber tube to ensure that the titrant can be dripped into the titrated solution at a stable and accurate rate.Alkaline burettes are specially used to hold alkaline solutions, such as sodium hydroxide solution, potassium hydroxide solution, etc. Due to its special structure and material, it cannot be used in acidic solutions and strongly oxidizing solutions, because acidic solutions will corrode rubber tubes, and strong oxidizing solutions will cause oxidation reactions with rubber tubes and damage burettes.
The scale of grade B alkaline burette is relatively accurate. Although it is not as precise as grade A burette, it can meet the needs of many routine experiments and analysis. For example, in general chemical experiment teaching, when the requirements for titration accuracy are not extremely stringent, a Class B alkaline burette can accurately measure and titrate solutions, and its scale error is within the allowable range.
The scale of the burette body is evenly graduated, which can ensure consistent measurement accuracy in different volume ranges. The volume change of the titrant can be accurately read both at the beginning of the titration and towards the end. This uniform division also facilitates users to quickly estimate the amount of titrant and improves the efficiency of experimental operations.
